In 2025 GBM was approached to source a UK web designer and SEO specialist to help develop an eCommerce website for a new to market US marine leisure product category.

The fractional CMO managing the branding and launch marketing specified their key needs, budget and timeframes, and GBM approached a handful of suitably qualified UK service providers to undertake the project and provide outline budgets.

Once the client had expressed a preference of the agency and met via an intro briefing call, they provided a fully costed scope of works and proposal and commenced the project within 5 days of appointment.

Working closely with the CMO, the UK web designer made recommendations of suitable eCommerce platforms to marry with the client’s US accounting and stock control systems (WooCommerce was the finally selected option). They then assisted with the setup of merchant systems, while producing a bespoke WordPress eCommerce site to maximize organic SEO for a new marine leisure product that had first mover market advantage.

Consideration to search traffic within the US market, keywords and URL design were all included within the scope of works and enabled the client to accelerate their organic Google and Bing profile even ahead of the site’s formal launch.

Within 4 weeks, the site was ready to launch with test products, ahead of schedule and on budget – estimated by the CMO to be 40% of the most similar US proposal provided.

The fractional CMO has since engaged with GBM Upshoring, and with the same web designer, to deliver several additional US projects.
